Sony Ericsson has launched yet another great looking Walkman phone this week and it seems like an appropriate time to review exactly which Walkman phones are on the market at the moment and go through a few of the major features on each phone.

Sony Ericsson W900i

The Sony Ericsson W900i isn’t the most recent Walkman phone so the features might seem a little dated. The impressive swivel action is the most striking feature of this mid range music phone. A 470MB memory with Memory Stick support stores hours of tracks and hundreds of photos taken on the integrated 2 megapixel digital camera. 3G services include streaming audio and video as well as Sky TV broadcasts depending on your network

Sony Ericssons W950i Walkman is a great 3G phone with a huge touch screen and stylus for ease of use. The metal keypad is flush with the sleek surface of the phone and gives it an impressive look. A USB connection and amazing 4GB of built in flash memory makes this a real iPod rivalling MP3 player. An advanced internet browser works perfectly with the 3G connection to bring the web to your mobile.

Sony Ericsson W880i

One of the latest Sony Ericsson Walkman phones to be introduced the W880i is the slimmest music phone to be introduced this year. With a large memory and stunning metallic styling the W880 is set to be the top selling Walkman phone of 2007.

Motorola VE465 set to launched on the Alltel Network

The Motorola VE465 is one off their new semi-rugged entry-level phones. If I remember correctly we look at this a few months ago when some leaked images appeared on the web. The phone has now appeared on Alltel’s website, so it looks as if it is going to be available pretty soon in the USA but no word yet on if this will be available in Europe.

The phone comes with a 1.9 inch TFT internal display with 176 x 220 pixels and 65k colors, Bluetooth, Music player, 1.3MP camera, MicroSD card support. As Alltel are now owned by Verizon I guess we may also see the phone appearing on their wireless service in the near future.

Motorola i9 now on the Sprint Network in the US

The Motorola Stature i9 has now hit the US market and is available on the Sprint network for around $200 depending on contracts and all that sort of stuff. I particularly like the look of the i9 as it comes with a 3.1 megapixel camera, which incorporates an 8x zoom autofocus camera. The phone also comes with bluetooth, GPS, microSD and speakerphone. It also has a few more features and applications like games, wallpaper and ringtones.

I have a few friends that are big fans of Motorola I’m not a big fan of the menus on their phones but maybe I’ve just gotten used to Nokia and Sony Ericsson over the years but they find sending text messages to be realy easy. On a bit more off the technical side the i9 comes in at 4.7 ounces and is 4.1? x 2.1? x .59? in size.

Reading some of the fluffy marketing information we are told that the phone is “slim, stylish and fashionable” which in fairness it looks from the many photographs that I have seen. As this is a flip phone it comes with a colorful external display so you can see you as a ringing without having to open a I kind of like this idea and have had it on the phones in the past and something that is really handy with these type of phones. Battery life is said to last about three hours, hopefully it’s something we will see hitting the European market in the not too distant future.
